The Vikings Sailing Club offers boat storage services for sailing dinghies. Subject to available space, the Club will store the Owner’s boat within its premises for a calendar year. The Club reserves the right to approve or reject new storage applications and reserves the right to cancel or refuse storage rights if necessary. The Owner is responsible for maintaining the boat in good condition and for insuring the boat. The Club is not liable for any loss, damage, injury or inconvenience that may occur to persons or equipment both ashore and at sea. All members and persons entering the Club premises do so at their own risk.

Terms and Conditions of Boat Storage at the Vikings Sailing Club

By accepting these terms and conditions, the Owner acknowledges that they have read and understood the below terms and conditions and agree to be bound by them.

1. Definitions:

  • “Boat” refers to a sailing dinghy.
  • “Club” refers to the Vikings Sailing Club.
  • “Owner” refers to the person who owns the boat and is entering into this storage agreement with the Club.

2. Storage Agreement:

  • Subject to available space, the Club agrees to store the Owner’s boat within the confines of the Club premises for a calendar year starting on January 1st and ending on December 31st.
  • New boat storage applications must be approved by the Club Committee. Full payment in advance is required. In case of rejection, the payment will be refunded less an administration fee of 20 Euros.
  • Under no circumstances will Club keys be given to unauthorized persons.
  • The Club reserves the right to move the boat from one area to another or place the boat on a rack to maximize space.
  • The boat will be stored in the designated area as instructed by the Club and no Owner shall be entitled to a permanent storage area. In addition, no work can be carried out on the boat inside the Club premises without explicit permission from a committee member.
  • The Owner remains responsible for maintaining the boat in good condition and for taking all reasonable precautions to protect the property of the Club and other users.
  • No road trailers can be stored at the club. They are to be removed the same day that the boat is brought to the club.

3. Cancellation and Refusal of Storage Rights:

  • The Club reserves the right to cancel the storage rights of the Owner’s boat at the discretion of the committee, if it is determined that the boat has not been used for a period of three (3) consecutive months. The Owner will be notified of the cancellation via email.
  • The Club reserves the right to refuse any storage application at any time and/or ask a boat owner to remove their boat from the Club Premises if the need arises.

4. Insurance Coverage and Ownership:

  • The Club does not provide insurance coverage for the boat or any other of the Owner’s property in the boat, trailer, and cover. Moreover, the Owner shall be responsible for any damage that the Owner or the Owner’s boat or equipment may cause to other boats in the Club or to any property of the Club itself.
  • The Owner warrants ownership of the boat and that it is fully covered by complete insurance coverage, including liability.

5. Compliance with Club Rules and Regulations:

  • All persons will abide by the rules, regulations, and statutes of the Vikings Sailing Club and must act in a responsible manner.
  • This agreement is non-transferable.

6. Liability and Jurisdiction

  • These terms are governed by Maltese law and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Maltese courts.
  • The Club shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or inconvenience that might occur to persons or equipment both ashore and at sea. All members and persons entering the Club premises do so at their own risk and responsibility rests with the individual.
