Registration for a term is subject to the terms listed below:
- The parents the parents or legal guardian of students younger than 18 years are responsible for registering and paying all the due registration, tuition and examination fees as and when these apply.
- Payments are not transferable to another term unless in special cases such as severe illness, which will keep the student away from sailing for a prolonged period of time.
- Payments are not refundable should the student miss a session for any reason.
- Payments are not transferable to other bills or as payment for the bills due by other students.
- Term fees are at a reduced race and it is assumed that some sessions may be missed. It is not possible to pay pro-rata for part of a term should the sailor not be attending all the classes, or should the sailor stop attending sailing before the last day of term.
- If a term has commenced, the sailor must pay higher the by the session fee until the next term starts. This must be booked in advance on the website booking system.
- The club does not offer replacements for any sessions missed by the sailor.
- Should the club cancel a session, this will be postponed to a later date.
- Land sessions may be held by the coach if it is deemed that the weather conditions do not make it safe to sail.
Health and Safety
- All sailors are aware of the bodily challenges presented by the sport of sailing including but not limited to exposure to prevailing weather conditions.
- All sailors take part in courses or charters at their own risk. Safety is of paramount importance on all of our sailing courses. Watersport activities are, by their very nature hazardous and sailors and their guardians must accept that there are risks and the inevitable bumps and scrapes. We ask all our sailors to comply with all safety and general instructions given by the Vikings coaches and staff.
- For safety reasons it is compulsory for all sailors to wear floatation devices on all sailing sessions
- Any medical conditions that a participant may have must be fully disclosed when booking a course
- Course and sailing activity participants consent to grant permission for basic First Aid to be administered by a suitably qualified member of staff where considered necessary or by a qualified medical practitioner. The client authorises a qualified medical practitioner to provide emergency treatment or medication if necessary.
- That the Vikings Sailing Club or any persons acting on its behalf including but not limited to sailing instructors shall not be held directly or indirectly responsible and, or, liable for any personal injury or death suffered by the Trainee during his/her scheduled course.
- The Vikings Sailing Club or any persons acting on its behalf including but not limited to sailing instructors shall not be held directly or indirectly responsible and, or, liable for any material damage and loss to or theft of the Trainee’s possessions which are left inside or within the whereabouts of the premises of the Vikings Sailing Club
Inappropriate Behavior
- Sailors and members are required to have consideration for others on our sailing sessions and activities. If, in the club’s reasonable opinion, a client or any member of their party is behaving or likely to behave in such a way as to cause danger, upset or distress to any third party or damage to property, the club is entitled without prior notice to expel that client immediately. No refunds will be made and the client is liable for any damage caused.
