Courses

Discover our sailing courses for children, teenagers and adults.

Sailing can be a physically demanding sport, especially on windy days. Our bodies must be prepared for the challenge, or we risk an injury. This course is aimed at adults in the Advanced, Double handed and Intermediate courses, but all are welcome. It runs over skype so sailors can join in at home or watch it later.
The Vikings Double handed course runs on Sunday mornings and is available to Vikings members who have completed at least one term of the Vikings intermediate course or have passed an assessment from one of our coaches. This course offers sailors the opportunity to sail some of our double handed boats, or to sail their own boats with a friend or with some of our friendly Vikings members.
Our summer sailing school is open to kids aged 8  - 12 years that weigh under 40kg. It offers young sailors an opportunity to have fun playing games on the water while learning how to sail in a safe and fun environment, building confidence and independence by teaching them to sail independently right from the start. We teach the basics of sailing in Optimist dinghies where kids can learn out of the classroom through action and supported experimentation in a controlled, coach supervised setting.
This summer program is only open to sailors who have reached an advanced or intermediate level of sailing. Sailors will be assigned a boat according to their weight and will be split up into groups according to their level.
We aim to build confidence and competence in young sailors. During this course, we build on foundations and develop new skills so that the sailors feel comfortable and in control in their boats in a variety of conditions. Sailors will have a solid grounding in the sport and the tools they need to pursue it further, in whatever capacity they choose.
This programme is aimed at sailors who wish to get the most advanced sailing experience from the club. It is aimed for sailors who have been sailing with the club for some time and wish to improve their skills. Sessions last 3 hours and mostly take place outside Marsamxett harbour. Sailors can use their own boat or use the club's toppers.
