The club will be holding an activity for our members and sailors on the 15th May. This will consist of club races in the morning followed by a Majjalata. Sailors can book for just the races, the majjalata or both. The activity starts at 8:30 am with rigging of boats followed by launching at 9:00 am. A series of club races will take place until 1:00 pm where everyone will have time to retrieve and derig their boats until 2pm.
The club will be organising a number of club races on Easter Saturday. Members can participate with their own boats or use a club boat. This will then be followed by a barbeque where everyone will bring their own food to cook on the club’s bbq and some refreshing ice cream
The Vikings open day is back!
Come and join us for a 1 hour trial sail on one of our teaching boats with one of our coaches or advanced sailors. Just book one of the time slots available and present yourself 10 minutes before your time slot on the day. While sailing around the harbour you will also be able to observe our youngest sailors during their optimist training session. Our coaches will also explain some basic sailing techniques during the experience.
After the success of our carnival fun sailing activity we have decided to organise another 2 mornings of fun for our sailors during the Easter holidays. This time, due to popular demand, we will also be accepting complete beginners who will sail on our larger teaching boats with an instructor.
To celebrate carnival, the club will be organising a morning of sailing, games and fun races for kids and teens. The event will be open to both members and nonmembers who are either attending or have attended a sailing course in the past. Sailors can choose according to their sailing skills. Beginners will be assigned a coach for team racing and games on our teaching boats while sailors who are currently attending their second Sportmalta course or have sailed for at least 6 months can choose between optimist and topper depending on their age.
And its a wrap! The regatta came to a close yesterday after 2 days of sailing. A record 103 boats participated during this event. On the last day, we were battered by thunderstorms and heavy rain which delayed the start of the races. A total of 4 races were held throughout the weekend. This event was only possible thanks to over 40 volunteers that dedicated their time to make this event a success! Thank you Gauci Borda and Floriana Local Council for sponsoring the event.
